Safari Enhancer augmente les fonctionnalités de Safari

Safari, navigateur web officiel de OS X, peut être passablement amélioré en installant un plugin nommé “Safari Enhancer“. J’ai trouvé l’information sur lyonelkaufmann.ch en cherchant à faire fonctionner les éditeurs WYSIWYG sur Safari. Voici les fonctionnalités de ce plugin dont la première qui m’intéresse:

  • Enabling the Debug Menu
  • Removing underlines from hyperlinks
  • Increasing the font size in the bookmarks sidebar
  • Disabling Safari’s web content cache
  • Forcing the download of all PDF files
  • Changing the colour of hyperlinks
  • Switching between the Brushed, Aqua and Unified Title/Toolbar application appearances
  • Disabling the website icon cache
  • Importing bookmarks from the Internet Explorer, Mozilla, Netscape, Omniweb and iCab browsers
  • Adding of a “New Tab” button to the Safari toolbar
  • Disabling of the download warning dialogue in Safari
  • Configuring of the history retention settings Safari uses
  • Changing the search engine used in the Safari toolbar
  • Choosing whether background imagery is printed
  • Choosing whether to display complete URLs in Safari tooltips for links
  • Changing what browser Safari identifies itself to websites as

Compatibilité: tester son site sur Safari avec SafariTest

SafariTest est un utilitaire en ligne des plus pratiques. Il suffit d’entrer une URL pour obtenir une capture d’écran de la page telle qu’elle apparaît dans Safari. Un must pour les tests!

Hum… vous pensiez en avoir fini? Pas du tout, puisque le créateur de SafariTest propose également VNC Testing pour tester un site sur Safari en live en prenant en quelque sorte le contrôle d’un système OS X.

I think that many of you have noticed the main limit of tools like SafariTest: the impossibility to “live test” features like Javascript, Rollovers, DHTML, AJAX and all the technologies which imply massive user interaction and client-side operations. As soon as possible I’ll be able to offer on this site an extra service: VNC Testing. This will allow you to test your pages by remotely controlling a Mac OS X system with your keyboard and mouse, as if you were in front of it. This means that you will also be able to use every other Mac OS X browser, including Firefox, Camino, Opera, Flock, etc… At the moment I don’t have unlimited bandwidth and cpu, so this will probably be a cheap-but-not-free service…
